Section One Introduction

In this section, we will start the preparation for your structured EPIC Five Plan Metabolic Detoxification Diet, whether it be your first or fiftieth time. We recommend re-visiting this section once per quarter, at the beginning of each “detox” month (as outlined later in this guide book).

We will explore your “Big Why”, preparing your home and work environments, travel considerations, how to rally your support team or “village”, a few advanced medical considerations and observations, and lab testing to get to the root cause(s) of any health concerns.

We recommend you grab a journal and take notes as you go. We’ve found that while these concepts are fairly simple and easy to implement, the more thought you give it, and the more times you walk through it, the more connections you will likely make, giving you greater understanding and insight into your own health and overall wellbeing.

Return to these notes and this guidebook quarterly, about every three months. For simplicity we recommend each January, April, July, and October to return to this program and “hit the reset button” as we tell our private clients at EPIC Functional Medicine Center.

You will see that you have found some answers, have new questions, and that you have come a long way with every reading.
